This magical, true story was sent in today by a client of mine in Wisconsin. (Ginny in the story) Enjoy! If you have little ones at home, this would be a wonderful, bedtime story.
This true story takes place in the time span of 2010-2012. It starts in Greenbrier, Tennessee. The month was April. It was a beautiful spring day and Dennis was looking out his window one morning and saw a truck pull into his driveway. It was his fiend Patrick. He went out to meet him when out of the corner of his eye he noticed something brown moving in the yard. He thought it was garbage so he went out to pick it up. Much to his surprise it was a puppy! A cute little puppy! Dennis took her into the house to show the family that what he had found was not garbage at all but a puppy. His wife, Cindy, and his daughter Jesse were both home. They all felt sad for the little puppy that someone didn’t want. So they decided right away to keep the puppy. It was a girl so Dennis named her Penelope. Pee for short. She was so tiny they had to feed her with a bottle. Her eyes were open but just barely. She couldn’t walk very far at all. (It was later discovered that Patrick had seen the puppy get thrown behind a dumpster and he took her and put her in Dennis’s yard because he knew she would be taken care of). Pee was taken in and loved by this family. They took care of her. This meant a lot to her. She was loved and she loved them right back.
Pee and Dennis went outside together every day. Dennis had a room out in his garage where he had his computers. The two of them would go there every day. Pee would be wrapped up in her small blanket and out they would go. Dennis would put her in a chair next to him and he would sit in his and do what ever it was he did on his computer. To Pee, this was a small piece of Heaven. She was with Dennis and she was loved.
The days blended one into another. Pee grew. And grew. When they went into the computer room now, Pee was able to jump up into her chair all by herself. She was so proud when she could do that. And she grew. It got to the point where Pee would jump up into her chair and sit, but her legs would hang down or over the arm of the chair. She was so happy. She had a family. She had Dennis. They had a bond that only a dog and her Master can have. Pee would do anything for Dennis for the kindness that he had shown her.
Dennis took her for rides in the car. They would go lots of places together. She would sit in the car and the window would be down, her nose sticking out. “This is the life”, Pee thought, “ Dennis and I together, with all the smells of the world”.
Summer came and went. She played with the other animals at their house. Kiwi and Lucy, they were dogs too. They had a great time playing, as all dogs do when they play. She played with the neighbor dog, Jack. And the treats! Not a day went by that Dennis wouldn’t give them a treat. This was the life.
Summer grew into fall but Pee didn’t really pay any attention. She was having a grand time as most loved animals do. She still went out to the room with Dennis and they had their time together. Fall went into winter. In November, Dennis started to take care of Cindy’s Uncle Bunny. Now this would have been just fine with Pee, except that Uncle Bunny lived ??? miles away. He would be gone for a few weeks at a time, come home for a bit, then leave again. This happened a few times, but each time Dennis would be gone a little longer.
Pee missed Dennis when he would go. She would have fun with Jesse, but even she was busy and couldn’t spend the time with her like Dennis had done. She was in High school and had things to do, places to be. Cindy had to be at work every day and sometimes at night. It just wasn’t the way it used to be. Dennis wasn’t home. They didn’t have that time in the room together every day. Oh sure, they still had some time together when he came home, but he seemed not to have as much time for her. He was always busy [Read more...]
